23. OUR NEXT DOOR BLESSED EVENT

I would be remiss in writing this book without telling about our wonderful ‘God Granddaughter’, Lauran Hoopaugh. She was born around 1985 and was one more great reason to believe in God. She was a beauty in every sense of the word. Her parents, Lillian and Larry Hoopaugh were very happy, but no happier than Barbara and me. We had long since given up on having grandchildren and Lauran seemed to fill that void in our lives. She spent more time at our house than hers and loved every minute of it, as did we.

I recall Barbara and me taking her to the circus and letting her ride the elephant. She was about two at the time and really loved the entire experience of the circus, especially the elephant ride. To watch her grow up to become a beautiful young lady was something we will cherish for all our lives.

As of this writing, she is in college in North Carolina and is living with her Mom who is separated from Larry, her Dad.
Her paternal grandfather, Dan Hoopaugh, now deceased, owned a grading business and was quite successful with it. It is now owned and run by Larry and he, too, is doing quite well.
